Letters to Oak

For those of y'all that follow my personal blog, this blog series won't be news to you.  Inspired by some fellow bloggers, when Oak was born I started writing him letters once a month that I will give to him later in life. Not only does it require me to make time to take photos of our everyday, but it also forces me to reflect on what's going on in life.  In an effort to start merging my blogs, I've decided to move this over to my photography site.  So now that you know what's going on, let's get to the subject at hand...can you believe it's already October?!?

Dear Oak,

This week I want to talk to you about current events.  I think it is very important that people know what is going on in the world so they can make good decisions and so they don't look like idiots in conversation.  I will tell you right now, if you are not well versed in both history and current events, you will never land a good wife.  I'm not even exaggerating.  Dad knows about both of these things and look at the winner he landed.

 There is a lot of crazy stuff that happens in this world and I wanted to take a second to make a list of things that are happening right now that will help you on your road to living ignorance free.

On this day in 2014...

1.  The Secret Service is in a lot of trouble because they let a maniac break into the White House with a knife. (Barack Obama is the president)
2.  Ebola is sweeping through Africa and a case just popped up in Texas.
3.  The iPhone 6 was just released. (this is a type of phone computer gadget)
4.  California banned plastic bags.

5.  George Clooney got married over the weekend in Venice.
6.  A group named ISIS is terrorizing the Middle East.
7.  Michael Phelps got another DUI. (He was an olympic swimmer)
8.  The Bears lost to the Packers on Sunday.

I'm sure that list just blew your mind.  No need to thank me for making you the smartest kid...ever.
